Trout Stockings Scheduled for Fall, Winter Fishing in Nebraska Lakes PDF Print E-mail

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will stock 9- to 10- inch (catchable) rainbow trout in 44 lakes across the state during October to provide anglers an opportunity to enjoy fall and winter trout fishing.

The dates trout will be stocked and the number of fish to be stocked are:

The week of Oct.1 -- Bessey Pond in the Bessey Ranger District of the Nebraska National Forest at Halsey, 200; and Crystal Cove Lake in South Sioux City, 4,500.

The week of Oct. 6 – Standing Bear Lake in Omaha, 4,000; Holmes Lake in Lincoln, 4,000; Fremont Lake No. 5 at Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area (SRA), 4,500; Qwest Lake at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park (SP), 2,500; Weeping Water Pond in Weeping Water,1,200; Bridgeport Northwest Pit at Bridgeport SRA, 900; Bridgeport Middle Pit at Bridgeport SRA, 1,000; Terry’s Pit near Terrytown, 900; Scottsbluff Zoo Pond in Scottsbluff, 900; North Morrill Pit at Morrill, 1,350; Middle Morrill Pit at Morrill, 450; South Morrill Pit at Morrill, 400; Laing Lake at Alliance, 3,000; Barnett Park at McCook, 1,000; Curtis Golf Course Pond at Curtis, 150; and Lake Ogallala SRA near Ogallala, 10,000 total stocked over a period of a couple of weeks.

The week of Oct.13 -- Ta Ha Zouka Park Lake at Norfolk, 1,500; Pawnee Park Pond East at Columbus, 1,500; Benson Park Pond at Omaha,1,050; Towl Park Pond at Omaha, 300; Niobrara SP Pond near Niobrara, 1,200; Grove Lake near Royal, 1,500; Humphrey Pond at Ogallala, 300; Lake Ogallala near Ogallala, 10,000 total, continuation of Oct. 6 stocking; and Rock Creek Lake at Parks, 3,000 to be stocked in October as time permits.

The week of Oct. 20 -- Grabel Pond Nos.1, 2 and 3 at Fort Robinson SP will each receive 800; Carter P. Johnson Lake at Fort Robinson SP, 1,700; Gracie Creek Pond at Calamus SRA, 575; Holdrege City Lake at Holdrege, 3,000; Windmill Lake No. 1 at Windmill SRA, 4,000; Lexington City Lake at Lexington, 1,500; Auble Pond at Ord, 1,500; Elm Creek at Elm Creek WMA near Red Cloud, 1,000; Lake Halleck at Papillion, 1,200; Steinhart Park Pond at Nebraska City, 1,200; Auburn Rotary Club Lake at Auburn, 1,400; David City Park Ponds at David City, 600; Bowling Lake at Lincoln, 300; Standing Bear at Omaha, 3,500; and Hitchcock Park Pond at Omaha, 450.

The week of Oct. 27 -- Birdwood Lake at North Platte, 4,000; Such’s Lake at Grand Island, 1,300; Heartwell Park Lake at Hastings, 900; and Arnold Lake at Arnold SRA, 850.
